Silver Birch trees and a green conifer under a rich blue sky in the spring - a range of intense colours that herald the brightness of summer.
In making this image the intention was to demonstrate that early Spring can be a time of intensely rich colour. The strong green of the conifer matches well the naturally brilliant blue sky. Both are a perfect foil for the colours of the birch woodland. Comprising a mix of planted specimens and naturally regenerated trees, focus is placed upon the upper growth of the trees which has, as yet, to develop the long pendulous branches of a mature tree which give the species its name. The dark purplish brown of the shoots contrast with the silver/white trunks so typical of Silver Birch.
