The French, in consequence of this failure,were unable to help Cassel, which was presentlybesieged by a portion of Prince Ferdinandsarmy. On November 1, 1762, Cassel fell, and withthis success the Seven Years War came to anend. Lord Bute was bent on peace, and withthe victors in this mind an agreement was in-evitable.
