Mr. Howelland his wife brought seven thousand dollars ofEnglish cash with them to Douglas county,where most of it has been invested in also own large tracts of land in Lincolncounty, as well, and nearly all of their realestate holdings are in cultivation, producingabundant crops of the cereals. Mr. Howell hasalways been ready to assist any movement forthe advancement and upbuilding of the coun-try, and has labored assiduously for the good Jof all. He has ministered to the people far andnear both in bereavement and in joy and has thedistinction of having officiated in more funerals. The father is a gentleman ofproperty, being a large coal mine owner as wellas having large landed estates. Mrs. Howellwas born in Pembrocke county, Wales, on Oc-tober 23, 1858, and has four brothers, John W.,David, \Villiam, and James.
