TO THE ROBINSON ASSOCIATION. 47 United States service, and he is buried on Whampoa Island inthe China Sea. Jesse Larned, was Everetts*^ fourth son. He marriedClementine Pease and had nine children, only three of whomsurvive. He lived and died in Lowell, proud to have served hiscountry in the Civil War. One of his sons, after a life of adven-ture, was lost on his way to Alaska. A son lives in Lowell and hasa famil}-. One daughter is in Chicago, and one in Rhode Island. Everetts*^ two daughters died young and only one seventh child, Leonard, grew up in Cornish, N. H.; learneda stone-masons trade, and for a time lived in Lowell. A desirefor adventure led him to make a voyage to California in 49 orperhaps earlier. His young sons told their still younger cousinsthat their father had seen cannibals at their feasts ; and withpride and awe showed a strange club taken from the savages asa proof of their warlike tendencie
