Mr. Davis wascarried from the Exchange Hotel to the capitol in Colo-nel Lomaxs carriage, drawn by four white horses. Myfathers carriage, drawn by a beautiful pair of blacks,was in the procession and carried his family to thecapitol. I recall many exciting times during the war.
