In commenting upon the combination plan in costumes, thePhiladelphia Press, of October 13, 1883, makes the following in-teresting remarks: A leading feature of the fashions of the season, as shown at theOctober openings, is that of combination costumes. Scarcely adress among all those made by the great French dressmakers,Worth, Pingat, , and the rest, is of a single fabric, the rulebeing the combination of brocade or fancy dress goods, with plainmaterial to match. This is the case especially with the finewoollens, the use of which is constantly increasing, and whichwill this winter be worn for everything, except elegant receptiontoilets.
