X 70 PAPILLARY PAKOYAEIAN CYST. 271 these two forms may be distinguished by the suitable names adenoma p a -pillare superficiale and cyst-adenoma papillare. In sharp and interesting contrast to these glandular epithelial tumoxs standa group of little tumors of the ovary in which the connective-tissue elements aregreatly in excess of the epithelial; these appear sometimes in the form of a mush-room-like reddish excrescence on the surface of the ovary, apparently sproutingout from a ruptured Graafian follicle. These growths are fully supplied ^Yithblood vessels and made up of a mass of connective tissue -with just enough epi-thelium to cover them, and may be suitably termed papillary fibromata. Diagnosis.—The diagnosis of a papillary tumor can not be made whenthe papillomata are confined to the interior of an ovariau cyst. The only prac-tical conclusion which can be dra\Yn in refeience to such cases is that any ova-rian cyst is liable to be papillomatous and therefore maligua
