Space station. Computer artwork of futuristic space shuttles flying to and from a manned space station in orbit over Earth. The space station is comprised of a number of modules connected together by tubular walkways. The circular solar panel used to generate electricity for the station is at left. The weightless conditions aboard orbiting spacecraft make them ideal for producing chemicals and materials which are difficult to create on Earth. A space station may even become a popular tourist destination.
