He received the grades in the A. and Rite in 1899, becoming a member of MassachusettsConsistory, Oct. 27, 1899. After serving as Master of Ceremonies for three years, hewas elected First Lieutenant-Commander, Dec. 28, Arthur Truman Way 32° 76 Massachusetts Consistory ARTHUR TRUMAN WAY 32° Arthur Truman Way, son of Truman and Sarah L. Way,was born in Salem, March 25, 1855. His father was promi-nent as a supervising engineer in railroad construction andleft Salem for the West, shortly after the birth of his son,returning to Salem in 1871. When sixteen years of age, Brother Way learned andmastered the method of leather manufacturing in Salem, andearly in the 90s started for himself, conducting a most success-ful business during the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Board of Aldermen of his nativecity in 1897, 1898, but declined further public honors. As acitizen he was upright in every respect, and was a kind andconsiderate employer, highly esteemed by all his employees.
