Red Kites soaring above feeding station site at Gigrin Farm in Rhayader, Powys, Mid Wales


At Gigrin Farm near Rhayader in Mid Wales the landowner feeds over 400 pairs of Red Kites every day of the year. Now the successful story is that from only a few pairs of Kites years ago it has reached this amount . Red Kites usually breed for the first time at 2 or 3 years old and they usually pair for life. Nests are built almost exclusively in trees, mostly in hardwoods, such as oak.
