It is very productive, and as it grows fully two-thirds of its length above the surface it is very easily pulled. The skin is an orange yellow, while the flesh is white, firm and highly nutritious. This variety does not at- tain to the large size characteristic of most mangels, but is remarkable for its earliness and its smooth, synmietri- ca!, globe-shaped roots. CHAMPION YELLOW OR ORANGE GLOBE MANGEL. This is one of the most generally grown of all the difierent varieties of mangels, as it is very productive, easily pulled and an excellent keeper when stored in heaps for winter use. It is spherical in shape and is of an oran -^ yellow color, though the portion growing above the surface is tinged witn green. The flesh of the root is white, fii-m and sugary.
