Dutch tulips by Pieter van Kouwenhoorn aka Pieter Kouwenhoorn (1599-1654), a Dutch botanical illustrator, working in Haarlem and Leiden in the Netherlands during Tulip mania in the Dutch Golden Age. During that time contract prices for some bulbs of the recently introduced and fashionable tulip reached extraordinarily high levels and then dramatically collapsed.
