Ornate 18th century entrance to the Palace of the Marquis of Salvatierra

The Palace of the Marquis de Salvatierra was built in the 18th century and belongs to the marquises de Salvatierra and de Parada, both of whom live there at various times of the year. The magnificant renaissance style facade is flanked by double corinthian columns supporting wrought and cast iron balcony. Revealing a colonial influence are the four figures of Peruvian Incas supporting the pediment. The outer two figures are a young girl modestly trying to hide her nakedness whilst the inner two figures are that of a boy poking out his tongue. The pediment carries the arms of the family.
