Pseudomonas sp. bacteria, coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM). These are Gram- negative rod-shaped bacteria, with flagella (yellow strands) for movement. The straight red processes are fimbriae. Pseudomonas bacteria are found in a wide variety of habitats, including soil, plants, animals and humans. Some species can cause infections in people whose immune systems have been compromised.
