Inpolitical faith he is strongly and zealouslyRepublican. Mrs. Drake is a member of theBaptist church of Arcade, of which her husbandis a regular attendant and liberal supporter. Conn OHN T. McCURDY, an adjustingagent of the Caledonia Fire InsuranceCompany of New York, was bornin Barkhamsted, Litchfield County,on the 30th of March, 1850. His. L. P. WEST. BIOGRAPHICAL REVIEW 373 grandfather, James McCurdy, was born inthe parish of Cavan, County Antrim, Ireland,May lo, 1782, though he was of Scotch ances-tors. James McCurdys father, John Mc-Curdy, was a son of Robert McCurdy, whosewifes maiden name was Mary Moore. Hisgrandmother was Margaret Ferrier, a daughterof Hugh Ferrier. James McCurdy, the grandfather of JohnF., with his mother, who had married a sec-ond time, came to America in 1788, landingat Wilmington, Del., thence going by way ofBuffalo to Northumberland County, Pennsyl-\-ania, where they remained for seven years,coming from thence to Dansville in McCurdy was the first settler in thetown of Dansville, and lived for sixty-fiveyears on the farm he then purchased. Heaccumulated a large property, and at his deathin 1863, at the age of eighty years, left hisfamily of seven children in comfortable
