SAN DIEGO (Feb. 20, 2019) An AV-8A Harrier is loaded onto the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) during crane operations. Sailors brought the aircraft aboard for upcoming damage control training. Makin Island, homeported in San Diego, is conducting a depot-level maintenance availability.
