This photograph shows a broken 38 cm naval gun, known as "Big Bertha," during a joint operation between American and German troops in the valley of the Somme. The gun was deliberately destroyed by the Germans and had a broken barrel measuring 45 ft. It was hidden in the woods near Chililly Ridge before being attacked by the 132nd Infantry of the 33rd Division. Located in Cappy sur Somme, Samme, France.
