The Penn-sylvania German farmers plant thisclover in their soil every few years,and after the clover has sent its rootsdeep into the sub-soil, bringing thericher elements to the surface for itsnourishment, they plow the entireclover crop back into the soil. Inthis way they keep the upper la-enriched for the croos whose roots arenear the surface. This, of course, isin addition to careful alternating ofcrops and other methods of fertilizingthe soil.
