Water sanitation chemical. Containers for the water sanitation chemical Biox 500. Biox is a low-alkaline precursor chemical that produces chlorine dioxide when mixed with acid. Chlorine dioxide is a powerful oxidizing agent that acts as a biocide in a range of water treatment processes. Biox 500 is used in water-dosing systems to protect against the formation of biofilms and other microbial contaminations. These chemicals are being produced at a Scotmas facility in Scotland. Scotmas, founded in 1998, is an international business headquartered in Scotland. Photographed in 2016.
