Fried sago grubs. Fried larvae of a palm weevil (Rhynchophorus sp.) in a bowl. These grubs are a delicacy among many indigenous groups in Malaysia and other parts of Asia. They are a nutritious dietary supplement and a good source of protein. They are also a pest of palm trees. They burrow into and eat the trunk, and can cause enough damage to kill the plant. Photographed in Mukah, Sarawak, Borneo.
