The Poertoren (Powder Tower) is a medieval gunpowder storage tower (1398-1401) in Bruges, Belgium
The Poertoren (Powder Tower) was built in 1398-1401 by master mason Jan Van Oudenaarde. It is 18 meters high and is a remnant of the late-medieval city walls. In 1477 it was converted into a workshop and storage for gunpowder. It is located at the junction between the Begijnenvest and the bridge across the Minnewater.
