Such devices are, i End-to-end union of intestine by means of the Murphy button : the two portions of the Murphybutton, held in position by purse-string sutures, are ready to be pressed together. (Richardson.) however, not necessary. The Murphy anastomosis button or Mayosbobbin may be used to lessen the time of operation in cases of circularenterorraphy, but they are seldom necessary. The gut should bestitched together first at the mesenteric attachment and then oppositeto that point. This gives a certain amount of steadiness while the re-maining suturing is being done. Fig.
