1383-1385 Portuguese interregnum. Battle of Aljubarrota,14 August 1385. It took place between the Kingdom of Portugal under John I of Portugal (1358-1433) and the Crown of Castile under John I of Castile (1358-1390). The result was a victory for the Portuguese, ruling out Castilian ambitions to the Portuguese throne and assuring John as King of Portugal. Engraving. "Historia de España Ilustrada", 1871.
