Amsterdam National Tulip Day visitors pick tulips for free celebrating the start of the official Tulip Season


The Dutch tulip season officially gets underway in January every year as the National Tulip Day comes to town! Everyone is invited to pick their own tulip for free from a specially constructed ‘picking garden’ at Amsterdam’s Dam Square. National Tulip Day returns on January 16, 2016. Around visitors picking tulips on Amsterdam Dam Square for free to celebrate the start of the official Tulip Season. A rather new tradition, it has quickly caught on: after all it's flowers for free! The event is organized by Dutch tulip growers who build a special tulip picking garden on Dam Square. Anyone can come to pick free tulips here. This festive event sets off tulip season because some 2 billion () Dutch tulips are expected to bring spring into homes around the world in 2015.
