Square of Pegasus

The constellation of Pegasus photographed with a diffusion filter to emphasise the star colours. The four brightest stars to the left hand side of the picture form the Square of Pegasus. Clockwise from top left the stars are Alpheratz, Scheat, Markab and Algenib. At lower right of the picture is the star Enif. The star 51 Pegasi which is known to have planets is roughly midway between Scheat and Markab. The constellation is high in the sky during November to March. Credit Yoji Hirose/Galaxy
