Gymnasium and Athletic Field. For the physical training and development of stu-dents there has been provided a Gymnasium, thoroughlyequipped with all modern apparatus and is under the chatge of a director, who will pre-scribe such exercises as may be best suited for thephysical development of each student. Attendance atthe exercises is required except when excused by theDirector. Besides the required exercises, the gym-nasium will be open for voluntary exercises at suchtimes as may be designated by the Director, who willalways be present when the gymnasium is TRINITY COLLEGE. 85 The rear part of the grounds enclosed by the racetrack has been set apart for the athletic field. It iswell suited for the purpose. Besides the ball fieldthere are several tennis courts. The athletic field isenclosed, and comfortable seats are provided for thespectators. Library and Reading-Room. The Library contains 13,180 volumes and a largenumber of pamphlets, most of which are placed in thelarge library-room on the first floor of the WashingtonDuke Building. Lack of space has made it necessaryto put a portion of the books in other rooms in thesame building. All are open to the use of students,and the Librarian will do whatever he can to facilitatethe use of the books. The books are selected with aneye to the needs of students in their class reading of the best works under the guid-ance of an experienced instructor is one of the essentialfeatures of an education, and a taste for it is one
