Yet stories reached England of the tyrannyof Hastings, of his executing Nuncomar, a Bengalee, whohad made charges against him, of his imprisoning twoIndian ladies of high rank, the Begums of Oude, and seizingtheir treasure, and of much else that was lawless and unjust.
