Spring lamb in plastic coat at Bainbridge, Wensleydale, North Yorkshire, UK: Sunday 7th April, 2013. Newborn Swaledale spring lambs from farms in the Yorkshire dales, wearing orange plastic protective coats to protect them from the hypothermia and the persistent cold easterly winds and rain during crucial first few days in the open.
Farmers have outfitted his 100 newborn lambs with bright orange plastic coats to protect them from the rigors of Britain's unusually severe spring weather. Lambs cannot be said to sweat (well not as much as humans do)they exude lanolin, and so the plastic bag is only a form of insulation and not harmful to them,Baby lambs are like human babies, not very good at controlling their metabolism and temperature, hence the bags.
