Male conifer cone fossil. Sandstone block (12 by 20 centimetres) containing a fossilised specimen of a male cone from a conifer tree. This specimen dates from around 240 million years ago, during the Triassic. It was found in the Voltzia sandstone quarries of the Vosges mountain range in northern France, and is part of the Grauvogel-Gall collection, held in Strasbourg, France.
