They went down the Sangamonto Jamestown, and walked to Springfield. It was but two years since Lincoln hadmade the trip for Mr. Gentry, of Gentryville, Indiana, with Gentrys son Allen, andtherefore he knew something of the river, and of the great city near its mouth.
