Cromwell Hotel, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, is on the site of a farm which is said to have been owned by John Thurloe who was Secretary of State to Oliver Cromwell. It became a hotel in the 1930’s. During World War II Sir Henry Wood, the founder of the BBC Promenade concerts stayed here until his death in 1944.
