In the summer and fall of 1835, the necessity for some kind of local gov-ernment began to be agitated, and steps were taken to organize the January, 1836, an act was passed by the Legislature for the organizationof Winnebago, Kane and Ogle counties. That act defined the county linesof Winnebago as follows: Commencing at the southeast corner of town-ship number forty-three, range number four, east of the third principalmeridian; thence west to said meridian; thence north, along a line of saidmeridian, to the southeast corner of township number twenty-six, in rangenumber eleven, east of the fourth principal meridian; thence west to the. ^ ^-^■^
