(B.) Philosophy of Education.—The Philosophy of Edu-cation, by Rosenkranz, is the basis for this work and the work in(A) Pedagogy. Consideration is given to the general idea ofeducation and to its special elements. The general idea of educa-tion includes its nature, its form, and its limits. The culture ofbody, intellect and will are treated under the special elements of PAGE TWENTY-EIGHT. , SouthernIllinois State Normal University. education. Dietetics and gymnastics are studied with respect totheir fundamental ideas. The significance of the development ofattention, as a voluntary act, is emphasized. The development of the subject-matter, and the manner of the demonstration follow, logically, thestudy of the pupils development. Consideration of the pupilscapacity, and the elements of the act of learning, in connection withthe method of instruction.
