A C-17 Globemaster III and two F-22 Raptors assigned to the 3rd Wing perform a flyover during the 11th Airborne Division activation ceremony at Pershing Parade Field, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, on June 6, 2022. The 11th Airborne Division and 3rd Wing history date all the way back to June 3, 1945, when 11 ABN Soldiers parachuted into the Cagayan Valley to expel the last Japanese forces from the Luzon region, Philippines. The 3rd Wing directly supported 11 ABN by targeting the remaining strongholds for this operation.
