ISTANBUL, TURKEY. A view over the Golden Horn to the Beyazit fire tower (left) and the Suleymaniye Mosque (right).

This picture of Istanbul was taken looking south from the Beyoglu district of the city. The Beyazit fire lookout tower is on the left, and Mimar Sinan's imperial Suleymaniye Mosque (built for Sultan Suleyman I 'The Magnificent' between 1550 and 1557) is on the right. The long, low building between them is the University of Istanbul. The body of water in the foreground is the Golden Horn, an inlet of the Bosphorus, and the Sea of Marmara is in the distance.
