Venus. Synthetic aperture radar map of the surface of Venus, showing the large 120 km Aine Corona and smaller features called 'pancakes' (35 kilometres in diameter). Rough areas appear bright, flat ones dark. These are thought to have formed by the eruption of extremely viscous lava. The Aine Corona is located in a vast plain to the South of the Aphrodite Terra. This map was created using data gathered by the Magellan radar-mapping spacecraft in January 1991.
