I was glad he said it for I hadnt beenat all sure of the result. I relate the above incident only to prove, thata little brandy properly used will sometimes helpa poor fellow out of a tight place. Again I must call the attention of the readerto the fact, that I am writing wholly from mem-ory, and without a single reference. But everycircumstance herein related actually occurred,though I am liable to jump a cog as regardsthe real order and date of the happening; for alapse of thirty-five years obliterates dates in mymemory.
