The Presbytery also resolved, that it highly appre-ciates the courtesy and fraternal spirit manifested byour brethren of the Methodist Church, in their dis-mission and full recommendation of the vJ3 irvK. PIKE COUNTY. Mr. Westbrook, which courtesy we hold ourselvesready when occasion offers, to reciprocate. This is probably the first case in which aMethodist minister was in snch an orderlymanner, transferred to the Presbyterian ranks. Mr. Westbrooks first and only pastorateamong the Presbyterians was in Burlington,N. J., the very city in which he had been re-ceived into the Methodist Conference twelveyears before. While pastor of this church in 1853he received the honorary degree of A. M. fromPrinceton College. In 1854 he received an appointment to asecretaryship from the American Sunday-schoolUnion, and removed to Philadelphia where heremained until the spring of 1861. In 1860he received the honorary degree of fromWashington College upon the nomination ofRev. William S. Plumer, , then professorin the Western Theological Seminary at Alle-gheny City.
