It seems probably that in this area, the ridges are at least in part attributable to an erosional origin. The erosion may have been marine, since the reticulate pattern bears no relationship to the adjacent sub- aerial drainage pattern (Fig. 171). Houbolt (1968) has described sand ridges of 561.
