Paul Camille Denis (1796-1872). 1868 illustration of the German engineer and railway pioneer Paul Camille (Von) Denis. Denis built Germany's first railway line, the Bavarian Ludwig Railway between Nuremberg and Furth, which opened in 1835. He was also responsible for numerous other lines, including: the Taunus Railway from Frankfurt am Main to Wiesbaden, the Palatine Ludwig Railway, the Palatine Maximilian Railway and the Homburg - Zweibrucken railway.
