Hydrodynamics. Frontispiece of 'Hydrodynamica', written by Daniel Bernoulli and published at Basel in 1738. This was arguably the most influential book in fluid dynamics theory. Bernoulli established much of the mathematics behind hydrostatic systems before expanding them to explain various aspects of fluid flows. It was of great importance in naval architecture, but is best known as the foundation of aerodynamic theory.
