View south from Glacier View Turnout to Grand Teton and southern Teton peaks. The Grand Teton, at 4199 metres (13,770 feet), stands right of shot. It may have been named by 19th Century fur-trappers, being French for 'large teat'. Alternatively, the name may be derived from the Teton Sioux. Disappointment Peak, at 3541 metres or 11,618 feet, stands in front of the Grand Teton. Proceeding south are seen the Middle Teton (3903 metres or 12,804 feet), Nez Perce Peak (3627 metres or 11,901 feet), South Teton (3814 metres or 12,514 feet), Avalanche Canyon, Mount Wister (3504 metres or 11,495 feet), Buck Mountain (3639 metres or 11,938 feet), Static Peak (3445 metres or 11,303 feet) and Albright Peak (3216 metres or 10,552 feet).
