Good Morning
The engraving is of a painting by Walter Shirlaw (1838-1909) an American artist who was born in Scotland but immigrated to the USA with his parents at the age of two. He worked first as an engraver but trained as an artist in Germany and became a well known artist of scenes of men at manual work. He also became a teacher of art and was elected an Associate and Academician of the National Academy of Design. Good Morning shows a farmyard scene in the early morning as the animals are fed and the children of the family are watching and playing
