Ruins of stadium games on the hill where is located the Palatine.
The Palatine is the most central of the seven hills of Rome and is one of the oldest parts of the city. It is the etymological origin of the word 'palace' in many languages. The Domus Flavia was built during the reign of the Flavian dynasty (69-96) - Vespasian, Titus and Domitian. This palace, which was extended and modified by various emperors, extends across the Palatine, overlooking the Circus Maximus. The building of the palace most visible from the Circus was launched during the reign of Emperor Septimius Severus
