Asian hornet research. Researcher pointing to a map showing with warm colours (red and yellow) the places where the invasive Asian hornet species Vespa velutina could establish itself. This hornet, also called the Asian predatory wasp, first appeared in France in around 2004, and has been spreading, attacking people and preying on native honeybee species. It has already spread from France to northern Spain. This work was carried out at the French National Museum of Natural History (MNHM) in Paris, France.
