Courtyard of Palazzo Comunale with a fresco in monochrome by Vincenzo Tamagni over an arched passage leading to Piazza del Duomo, San Gimignano, Italy

The Palazzo Comunale, also called Palazzo del Popolo or Palazzo Nuovo del Podestà, is located in Piazza del Duomo, between the Torre Grossa and the Loggia del Comune. It contains the Civic Museum with important works of art of the Florentine and Sienese School from the thirteenth to the sixteenth century, with artists such as Coppo di Marcovaldo, Lippo Memmi, Benozzo Gozzoli, Filippino Lippi, Sodoma, Pinturicchio and Azzo di Masetto. The courtyard was built in 1323 and is decorated with frescoed or sculpted coats of arms and, in the center, a cistern arranged in 1361. The fresco in monochrome "Justice that tramples the lie" in the courtyard is by Vincenzo Tamagni (1492-1530)
