Costume of Pouraille, master of Paris. He wears a claque bas (bicorn), tight redingote (frock coat), cravat, striped breeches, and shiny boots. He holds a magnifying glass to examine precious stones. Handcoloured etching by Auguste Etienne Guillaumot Jr. from Costumes of the Directory, Rouquette, Paris, 1875. The etchings were made from designs by Eugene Lacoste and Draner after prints of the era 1795-99. The costumes are from theatre productions Merveilleuses and Pres Saint-Gervais by Victorien Sardou.
