The bronze doors for -the west entrance of the Capitol were made by Louis Amatels, professor ofthe Columbian University, of Washington, D. C. The actual doors, which have never l>een placed,are deposited in the Corcoran Gallery of Art. The ensemble presents a feebler variation upon the Ghi- hertian theme, and is intended to picture, in itsnine panels, Statuettes, and medallions, the Apoth-eosis of FRAGMENT OF PEDIMENT FOR THE HOUSE PORTICO OF THECAPITOL. -NO.
