It is very abundant at Bermuda, among rocks and in tide pools at low-tide. It occupies many kinds of small gastropod shells, such as Cerithium, Modulus, Littorina, Neritina, Anachis, Columbella, Naticxi. Frequently it takes possession of various land shells, com- monly washed ashore. It is sometimes infested by a parasitic isopod crustacean [Stegias clihanarii Richardson).* * Proc. U. S. Nat.
