ARMENIA COLLEGE. It is an acknowledged fact in all foreign missionary work, thatthe main burden of the extension of the Gospel must rest on edu-cated natives. A handful of missionaries,—two or three men orwomen to half a million or more of people,—can do no more thanintroduce the Gospel light, setting it up here and there in impor-tant centres; its diffusion into the surrounding darkness must bee:ffected by innumerable little tapers, each with its modicum ofdivine light carried into obscure and distant corners. That thisidea is the true one, no one can doubt who considers how muchhas been already accomplished in this direction on mission ground;and perhaps there is no field where this plan has been tried morethoroughly or more successfully, than in the Eastern TurkeyMission. In the single section under the care of the Harpootstation, where there have never been more than eight missionariesat any one time,
